"RETRACTION I hope I don't have to do this again but I'm afraid I now think this story is untrue. A comment sparked me to check the research fron the source of this story and it doesn't add up. The aircraft given as testing the mod was DZ414 which was a specially selected BIV used by the Film Production Unit and flown by Chales Patterson at XXX Sqn not Channer. Rod Banks was an expert on advanced fuels at Boscombe Down (developed the fuels for the Rolls Royce 'R' engine used for the Schneider Trophy). Apologies - it was a great story with lessons for the present and took me in. I will do more"
