"inkwell is a generative world-building engine. community wishes become playable characters items and environments that feed into an adaptive mmo. but you can access any of that content via api for your own games too. this is the early stages of the world editor"

"each npc is an ai persona that you can customise. they have context of the items scenery characters and actions that have taken place around them. they're still in the early stages but this will evolve into controlling the actions they take as well"

"thinking about a workflow for mixing procedural generation with generative art. midjourney is *very* focussed on generating images where the focal points are *in front of you*. this makes it hard to create coherent levels"

"as a quick test. i took a screenshot of a scene i was making & sent it to an llm to help come up with ideas. i think baking an agent directly into the level editor is a really good idea"

"the idea being that when you talk to the agent it would send a screenshot of the current viewport (or potentially a more robust context engine) to a vision model"

"this makes fetch quests little interactive stories where characters hide information away unless you show them specific items or say certain things to them. it also just really makes the worlds feel a lot more alive"

"@andthedropout @RealAstropulse the direction is pretty much if you got zelda X and mashed it with dnd but made it that players could make worlds like in super mario maker (but you can scribble the pictures like scribblenauts - or prompt them). but that's ok. it doesn't need to resonate with everyone"

"the *big picture* plan is an adaptive / evolving generative / procedural mmo (that does exactly what you're talking about). since i'm a solo dev with no external funding. i'm starting with "quests" (single player and then up to X - X players) and then once people have built a bunch of cool stuff i'm going to use the data to help me build the more connected / evolving world version"

"@MidasTouchmkt @Quaison theyre going to be a state machine / behaviour tree and ifs really just the dialog and some high level triggers that will need to be llm calls (and they are very cheap models so honestly not bad at all)"

"@thinkpad24 i think the ai llms talking back to you are the least interesting part. it gets interesting when it can trigger state changes into a state machine or behaviour tree characters that can react to the actions and context of the world around them"

"it's a bit of a mouthful. but gameplay wise i see it as a mix between zelda X baldurs gate II scribblenauts and super mario maker. you make worlds and share them with other people (or play multiplayer eventually) you can scribble new entities or prompt them and they come to life. but it plays like baldurs gate II / zelda 3"
