"Ive now been driven around by both Waymo and Tesla FSD (version 13/14). Waymo is very good. Ive felt perfectly safe while riding in it. But its also quite obvious that its driven by a robot with little but ubiquitous jerkiness. Tesla FSD drives like a human presumably bc it has been trained on millions of hours of human driving. Beyond being safe FSD makes decisive decisions to drive around blocking or temporarily stopped vehicles learns from previous mistakes of turning the wrong parallel lanes etc. Its just a much better UX as a passenger"

"The iPhone air is an interesting curiosity but not a good product. Sure its impressively thin but everyone uses a case in case you drop the phone or just to customize. So its not thin in daily use. O/w the battery life is poor by design and the camera is much worse. The air seems like a prototype lab product Apple released commercially to anticipate the foldable next year. "I disagree. I'm a big fan of Lei Jun and Xiaomi but Lei and Xiaomi are ultimately a classic and in fact excellent Chinese company: a great copier and iterative innovator. They copy Apple now copy Tesla. The competitive edge lies in aggressively driving down costs while delivering a product/experience that almost looks like the real thing. But as anyone who has used a Xiaomi phone can attest it's not like the real thing at the end. Lots of advertised features fall short in real world use. If I was a total novice which I am Id be led dangerously astray without good intuition which I fortunately had.
