"Hydra isnt a generic state channel like Lightning. Its built on eUTXO supports full Cardano validator logic and preserves Cardanos native assets and scripts. Ethereum Plasma isnt even a fair comparison. As far as I understand Plasma was a completely independent network and couldnt support smart contract execution. Most Plasma implementations were mainly built for simple payments or ERC-20 transfers. On top of that Plasma only posts a root hash back to L1. "Thanks for sharing your perspective but I dont think Plasma and Hydra should be treated as the same thing. Plasma is essentially an independent network with its own block production and consensus. It periodically commits a root hash to an L1 contract. From a user perspective you usually have to add a new network to your wallet go through exit games and wait out challenge periods to recover assets which feels very similar to traditional L2 bridging. Hydra on the other hand isnt a separate chain. It simply processes committed UTxOs in parallel using the exact same validation rules as Cardano"
