First off the US-2 is a pretty awesome flying boat. It's STOL capability and wave tolerance is no doubt supremely impressive. BUT - I cannot find 3rd party validation of this wave tolerance anywhere. Using hydrofoils to takeoff and a deep-V hull to land a Seaglider of the same size and weight can operate in 5ft seas.
