This war is not going to end in a unilateral surrender from Russia unless you're advocating NATO boots on the ground and risking a significant escalation or potentially even a World War. When Islamic banking came into contact with inflationary fiscal policy it introduced: - Ujrah (a loan fee which can be paid over time) - Murabahah (priced up resale) - Ijarah (paying rent on the proportion of a home which the loanee doesn't own) In other words they have 'interest' but by a different name and mechanism. "Agreed but the problem is if I lend you $XXX at X% interest today I'm probably going to make a loss in real value over the term of that loan. I'm not even talking about opportunity cost I'm just talking about the deflationary nature of fiat money. At XX% (let's say real terms 5%) I'm probably at break even vs just throwing the money into gold bars but with significantly more risk. That's how we end up at rates like XX% and XX% because the first 5-6% of the interest is just breaking even vs inflation and then the next 3-4% is just covering the default risk. "I think it's possible for most people to navigate the awful system I just don't think it should be this hard to have a decent middle class life. I know so many people who always have worked very skilled people and they're either not getting any offers or the offers are at 60-70% of the salary they made XX years ago.
