"Ive been hearing one of the largest home builders in my backyard is under some severe financial stress. One of the ways that high-volume home builders grow is that they have access to a lot of lot inventory. In Fargo the carrying cost of holding lots is quite high. There are property taxes and then theres concept of a special assessment (things like streets and sewers are paid by the city with the cost amortized back to the lot owners). And of course interest. A doubling of interest rates combined with slowing home sales has to have crushed cash flow for builders holding a lot of lot inventory"

In addition he writes thorough daily updates which allow me to stay in the loop of what hes working on (along with following progress in GitHub).
