They have a "stated value" which is either $25 or $50 (the S & T have $25). Holders receive stated value if Fannie chooses to redeem them. The reason they might do this is to get rid of the dividend expense which must be paid for $FNMA to receive dividends. It would be better if people thought all the preferreds were par of $1 and crashed it. Then I could buy more and get an easy 20X when the conservatorship ends."
