"Well looks like you won't have many friends in the Messiah's kingdom which is made up of believers from all nations and languages according to Rev 7:9. "Why not Surely Matthew intended Jesus's teachings in the Sermon on the Mount to be passed on to all nations. Jesus's teachings in his Sermon include "do and teach the commandments." This is a pretty standard view among scholars. Oliver Marjot: The commands of Jesus referred to at 28:20 are intimately related to the Torah such that the latter is neither abrogated nor replaced but rather remains in force. It is simplest then to accept that Matthew means precisely what he has Jesus say in these verses: that would-be disciples of Jesus should observe the Torah. (Israel Torah and Christ in Matthew"

"More quotes from scholars drawing the same conclusion: Lidija Novakovic: A similar inference can be made from the commission of the risen Jesus in which he instructs his disciples to teach new converts 'to obey everything that I have commanded you' (Matt 28:20). Since the expression has a comprehensive sense it includes Jesus authoritative interpretation of the Torah that affirms its full validity (Matt 5:1719). (Matthew and Paul on Torah Observance in To Recover What Has Been Lost 115) Anders Runesson: I find it very difficult to escape the conclusion that what Jesus has taught throughout"

"I disagree with McClellan on almost everything but he is right here. I make the exact same criticism of Solberg's (the person McClellan is responding to in this video) approach to Matthew 5:1720 in my book "How Jesus Fulfilled the Law." Solberg basically argues that Matthew 5:18 is not allowed to mean what it says because other completely unrelated texts in Paul's epistles and Hebrews seem to say something different. Instead we should interpret Matthew 5:18 on its own terms. That doesn't mean we don't consider the broader biblical context but our priority as exegetes should be the immediate"

"Im not ignoring it. In the tweet you are responding to I posted a video where I go through the chapter verse-by-verse. The chapter actually proves that they did NOT discourage Gentile believers from obeying Torah. They directly imposed commandments from Leviticus onto Gentile believers three of which were ritual food laws (v 20). All you gotta do is read the text. Its right there"

"The food laws in Acts 15:20 come straight out of the Torah. They are laws given to the stranger (Lev 17-18). The apostles explicitly required the Gentiles to keep the laws of the Torah that applied to them as Gentiles (strangers) which include those three food laws and the laws against sexual immorality. Nobody keeps the whole Torah because not all the Torah applies to any one person. We keep the laws that apply to us and the apostles regarded the Gentiles as analogous to the stranger and expected them to keep the laws given to the stranger (which is much more than the four laws of v. XX btw"
