"$HOOD's current margin rate is 5.25%. The current Fed Funds rate is 3.75%-4.00%. It looks like $SOFI is going to release tiered rates as shown below. In order to get a better margin rate from SoFi right now you'd need $10M+ taken out on margin. That should get better as the Fed drops rates but it will still be largely uncompetitive with HOOD's offer except for with very large accounts"

"I actually dislike margin accounts generally I never use margin myself and encourage others not to use it. This post was a comparison of their rate relative to other brokerages. I had another one earlier saying that $HOOD's rates are actually better than $SOFI's. If one were to use margin they should use HOOD's platform because it is better unit economics. However you are making this into an either/or fallacy. Under this same argument since stocks can go up or down all investing should be banned as gambling. Painting a black and white picture is great for ragebait but not so great for actual"
