"Regarding the Air India B787 AI171 crash report the fuel control cutoff switch requires manual physical activation by the pilots and locks securely in either the "run" or "cutoff" position. It cannot move independently. Even if one fuel control switch was moved both switches moving sequentially without deliberate pilot action is highly improbable. In the event of an engine failure on a B787 the Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) automatically starts. However simultaneously powering the APU and both engines would not have been feasible due to insufficient time and altitude.#aircraftengineer #Aviation"
