This belonged to the powerful Red Douglas family was besieged multiple times (including by Scottish monarchs) and eventually destroyed by Oliver Cromwell's forces in 1651. It's use didn't stop there however In 1944 captured German radars were brought to the Castle to train RAF bomber crews including the Dambusters in deception tactics for the Normandy"
