There is zero explanation for where this universe came from.
Even the most secular explanation, that this universe came from another universe, and that universe sprung from a bigger still universe, etc... then the chain of universes ends up at a Singularity. Assign that Singularity self-awareness (which it probably does have), and you've got God.
In my experience, where people trip up is not understanding that God doesn't think the same way we do with death, suffering, and decay.
