You can do a lot of that stuff for hitters who slump and are not great defensively. Walls isn’t special there.
The team signed HSK in offseason to ween off of Walls. He hasn’t been healthy. What do you want the Rays to do? They don’t have a potent offense right now. Cabby’s bat is not > Walls’ defense, so with the personnel you have, you have to play the run prevention game.
It’s a bad series at a bad time. Considering he is a +17 DRS, I’m going to give him a break. But when you have a lineup that isn’t supported around him, his spotlight gets larger 🤷🏻♂️
