Ford CEO Jim Farley is sounding the alarm about China’s dominance in the electric vehicle market. Speaking at an event, Farley called it “the most humbling thing” he’s seen, noting that XX% of all EVs globally are made in China.

Farley praised the seamless tech integration in Chinese EVs, highlighting how companies like Xiaomi and Huawei offer vehicles where your phone and digital life sync automatically—no pairing needed. He said Ford can’t match that experience because Apple and Google chose not to build their own cars.

Farley also acknowledged that Chinese automakers are beating Western competitors not just on technology, but on cost and quality. “If we lose this,” he said, “we do not have a future Ford.”

His comments come as Ford pushes forward with its own affordable EV platform, set to launch in 2027. The company hopes this new lineup will compete on price and features with Chinese rivals.

Ford is also investing over $X billion in a new battery plant in Michigan to support its EV expansion. But competition is heating up fast. Xiaomi just launched its first all-electric SUV, and BYD is releasing new sedans priced under $20,000, intensifying the EV price war.
