Above that level and most people would like some flexibility in terms of how they invest corpus etc. I am just not sure of the use case for the Epfo. Everyone should move to the new NPS and the government should create some structure where social security is funded by contributions but doesnt become an entitlement. "Two major problems with epf is your transaction costs and the tight leash government keeps on withdrawals. If it is meant to offer an emergency corpus it doesnt. If it is meant to be social security post retirement it doesnt do that also well. Government should just keep it tax efficient and not constantly supervise withdrawals.
