"For example I made a native method that gets all system fonts and returns them as an array of strings. In JavaScript it looks like this: import IRFonts from ./specs/NativeIRFonts const fonts = IRFonts.getFontList() I checked the round trip it was 0.078ms" @jamonholmgren on X 2025-07-25 00:45:46 UTC 28.6K followers, 2539 engagements

"I built a native tab view for react-native-macos that uses the native NSTabView under the hood and can mount react components in the panels. It was fun to build but I don't think I'll actually end up using this. Tab views are really easy to build in React after all" @jamonholmgren on X 2025-07-17 04:23:57 UTC 28.5K followers, 2585 engagements
"@ilmo_r I think it's definitely extended the life of React Native which has already been out for XX years and seems to be increasing in popularity still" @jamonholmgren on X 2025-07-25 17:00:29 UTC 28.6K followers, XX engagements

"A lot of really cool open source libraries and blog posts are going unnoticed by the React Native community because theres so much out there. Solution: tag @RNNewsletter if you want something to be considered for inclusion in the next issue We have something like 20k subs" @jamonholmgren on X 2025-07-26 04:33:27 UTC 28.6K followers, 2602 engagements
"@dreamingtulpa I don't care what it's called one way or the other because I don't make those types of things part of my personality" @jamonholmgren on X 2025-07-25 23:34:27 UTC 28.6K followers, 11.8K engagements
"React Natives new architecture isnt quite fully adopted yet in the RN community so not much has changed yet. But there is a ton possible going forward with the new bridgeless APIs. Ive built a bunch of bridgeless TurboModules and custom Fabric components in the past couple weeks and its been really fun. I think in 2026-27 we are going to see a lot of innovation in the React Native world that we havent seen as much of in recent years" @jamonholmgren on X 2025-07-25 00:32:48 UTC 28.6K followers, 23.2K engagements
"Merge request makes more sense than pull request" @jamonholmgren on X 2025-07-25 19:17:36 UTC 28.6K followers, 347.9K engagements
"For those of you not in this part of tech the legacy architecture was built with a bridge that required serializing (stringifying) messages that would be sent between the JavaScript and the native parts of the code which was quite slow and caused a lot of the limitations that weve worked around for XX years. The new architecture on the other hand enables directly calling C++ (and through that Objective-C Java Swift Kotlin) and getting a direct return value with near zero cost. No serialization/deserialization required" @jamonholmgren on X 2025-07-25 00:37:47 UTC 28.6K followers, 2561 engagements
"Lately Ive been mostly exploring react native macOS. There isnt nearly as large of a market for desktop apps in general but I think there is a reasonable chance that it can replace many use cases of Electron" @jamonholmgren on X 2025-07-17 16:33:54 UTC 28.5K followers, XXX engagements
