"Erasmus was a cute idea but a complete waste of money especially from Britain's perspective. It meant that British taxpayers subsidised bad quality universities in Europe and only a tiny number of British students used the scheme. The same goes for the hugely overrated Horizon scheme. Erasmus has not "created Europeans" like its idealistic founders hoped because you cannot create a people via a government project.
