"You're wrong. You forgot taxes. It takes XX years to catch up. You have to pay taxes on the $4000 if you take it out to invest yourself. The 401K contribution is tax free when putting it. So it's really $8000 per year vs about $2600. See modeling below. There are other benefits to a 401K like you can take loans against it. Right now Bitcoin loans are mark to market and XX% which is not great. I did the math when I got married as my wife has a nice 401K. I'm a Bitcoin maxi and I decided we'd keep contributing. We also took a loan against her 401K and bought Bitcoin"
