"why im scared of false economies: i was always shocked that aircraft engines were sold on a razor blade model. an engine could cost $XX million to make but be sold for $9m. over the course of XX or so years they would make another $3m on service contracts. thats a XX% profit in XX years. which makes you think- why not just put all that money into the stock market youd get a higher return with less effort and arguably less risk but the issue is the stock market IS the measure of goods being produced and sold if everyone did this no company would be worth anything manufacturers are what uphold"
