"Loss of Confidence and Currency Devaluation: When a country prints excessive money investors and citizens lose confidence in the currency. This leads to capital flight (a situation where people moving their money abroad) and causes the exchange rate to worsen and this further devalues the currency. E.g - Zimbabwe and Venezuela experienced hyperinflation because of uncontrolled money printing their currencies became practically worthless. Interest Rate and Monetary Policy Distortion: Printing money interferes with a countrys monetary policy. Central banks control the money supply to manage"

"Inflation: Printing money increases the amount of currency in circulation and because this is not backed by a corresponding increase in production you have a situation where too much money is chasing fewer goods i.e. inflation. Foreign Debts: External debts are not settled using local currency. The terms of repayment are mostly in USD. So printing more Naira (for example) is not a solution to repaying external debts"
