"South Africa's macro story remains one of structural stagnation. Growth came in flat in 1Q25 with mining and construction dragging while capex remains weak. The coalition govt has done little to lift sentiment BER business confidence fell again reflecting deeper worries around SOE performance (Transnet Eskom). Despite CPI falling to XXX% yoy the SARB has remained cautious. With real rates still elevated and tariffs on SA exports due X Aug I expect a final 25bps cut in July but nothing beyond.
