"This is thread #12 of the Walt Disney's Uncle Remus newspaper comic strip. This thread collects the first half of the strips from Jan-June 1951. Anyone claiming the film was a failure & that these characters are obscure is lying to you. The only other Walt Disney characters with a regular newspaper comic strip like this were Mickey Mouse & Donald Duck. These were just as beloved Walt Disney characters & warmly embraced by many black Americans who saw them as Walt Disney celebrating their cultural heritage. In the days before VHS & streaming this is how most Americans were familiar with these"

"I've learned Eisner killed that. EPCOT Center was meant to be the community center. The next phase was the city and would have opened by the early 90's. Disney CEO spent so much building EPCOT Center it's what led to Eisner taking over. It's a myth that the films are what put Disney in financial trouble. I have footage where Walker says EPCOT Center was built to spread capitalism and Constitutional freedom around the world at a time when the culture was abandoning both. (This was filmed in the Carter years.) Card Walker is ALWAYS smeared in Disney histories but I've come to learn it was over"

"@SonnieJohnson Could you please shine a light on this. It's a thread about how we can get Walt Disney's Song of the South on the National Film Registry. This is the first time a film honoring America's black heritage was ever released & the man who portrayed Uncle Remus received an eternal Oscar for this role. The thread has information on the film & at the end there's an examination of James Baskett's performance as Uncle Remus.
