On entering their barracks hes shocked to see it in total disarray guys in shorts and flip flops guys are even roasting a rabbit in there. Thinking they are messing with him he angrily walks out. "The disconnect I see from the media to the fans is that its not that Nebraska lost (most fans predicted a 8-4 7-5 season) its how they lost and to who. How a team of experienced coaches could be out-coached vs inexperienced coaches how players could not be ready to play vs a team that you should want to beat more than anything how they were dominated physically by a team thats been dominated physically in their previous games. It was a total program failure that puts everything now in doubt"

"The UCLA loss was certainly the worst loss prior to this one. The MSU loss was bad but its Yr X of a yr new HC. This loss was different given the vaunted Yr X Matt Rhule timeline the opponent and their vulnerabilities. And yes while their staff has more experience together they are collectively the lowest paid trio of Coordinators in the BIG10 and Danny Collins is a first time DC. And while I dont disagree with anything youre saying below the surface I can tell you there is a real feeling that this is different now. I wouldnt call it a doom and gloom mentality but more of a mistrust or real"

"The top XX ranking is of little concern to me. Its the reasons of how a total systems failure by coaches and players at this stage in yr X happened that has me concerned. Listening to their comments only furthers my concern. Experiencing the ebbs and flows in yr X or yr X is somewhat to be expected as the HC is one the setting and holding the expectation or standard for the program. But by yr X while there is going to be messy games (Maryland Cincinnati MSU) there is a still enough tangible evidence that while there are certainly issues things are generally heading in the right direction."

"Nah while the PSU job rumors may have been a minor contributing factor it certainly wasnt the root cause for what happened. In the safety world in which I work all injuries are not the same. A small laceration for instance is different than a SIF (a serious incident or fatality). And a SIF (like the MN loss) doesnt just happen. Instead its caused by a number of factors and latent conditions below the surface that get through the holes in your layers of defense (if you even have them) to result in a SIF. Its why I dont shrug off the loss as being a minor injury. What I see following this SIF"
