"Today marks the 86th anniversary of the tragic sinking of the Revenge-class battleship HMS Royal Oak by Gnther Priens U-47. The attack demonstrated the German Navys ability to bring the war to Britain. Scapa Flow once considered impregnable was subsequently reinforced with the Churchill Barriers. Today HMS Royal Oak still rests on the seabed as a war grave where XXX sailors lost their lives on that fateful night"

"Salisbury-class or Type XX aircraft direction frigate HMS Salisbury (F32). Source: Hampshire Prints The Type XX class were aircraft direction frigates equipped with an advanced suite of radar systems designed to guide carrier- and shore-based aircraft against aerial targets. They shared the same hull design as the Leopard-class frigates and like them were powered by eight Admiralty Standard Range diesel engines driving two shafts. This machinery produced a combined output of 14400 shaft horsepower (10700 kW) enabling the ships to reach speeds of up to XX knots (44 km/h; XX mph)"

"On this day in naval history 1957: A Westland Whirlwind helicopter towed the Ton-class minesweeper HMS Gavinton weighing about XXX tonnes for two miles at a speed of around X knots off the Isle of Wight. The experiment aimed to test the feasibility of using helicopters for salvage operations. Although the results were impressive the method was deemed too risky and the idea was discarded"
