"Hi all I just published a new Missile Matters post where I assess how badly Ukraine needs Tomahawk cruise missiles. In my view they do not represent a critical capability and alternative options may be advantageous. Full analysis via link in bio short summary below. 1/6"

"Tomahawk Block Vb is interesting especially given that Taurus and eventually Taurus Neo would seem to fulfill the Bundeswehrs hard target kill requirement. At the very least this suggests that there are specific hardened targets the Bundeswehr sees as necessary to hold at risk at ranges beyond 1000 kilometers. We can all happily speculate what those might be 👀"

"A Polish mass-produced ALCM is only a matter of time. We'll see if it ends up being this one or another design. Ive said it before but it bears repeating: While Russia currently holds a significant advantage in the missile domain we are inevitably moving toward a future in which it will be surrounded by neighbors each fielding hundreds if not thousands of conventional long-range strike weapons aimed at high-value Russian military and economic targets. This will make for 'interesting' crisis dynamics as Russia's vulnerability to conventional counterstrike and countervalue strategies increases"

"I don't expect any major success here. Germany already has Arrow France and Italy have SAMP/T the UK and Spain can't afford it with current levels of spending. Poland has already spent its budget elsewhere. This probably leaves Switzerland the Netherlands Sweden and Norway has potential buyers. But I don't really see any of them going for it"

"There are two parties that benefit from this: 1) Warhead engineers at Livermore and Sandia who would love to blow up stuff with nukes (makes their jobs more exciting). 2) China which would love to catch up on some of that empirical data"
