"$WK and $WDAY both trading at depressed multiples on concerns around AI displacing application software Both are mission critical / high determinism enterprise software businesses with Irenic and Elliott involved respectively Little bit of a self help story for each of these but able to own high quality GARP with tailwinds as the AI narrative abates Ive got a few more that are more event-y but these are plays where you wont get totally smoked if you hang onto them for the next 2-3 quarters"

"$CRL is a great way to play improved sentiment on biotech/pharma R&D spend with a manufacturing solutions biz thats up for sale and likely garners a 15x multiple after tax Proceeds used to de-lever balance sheet and buy stock back fairly easy walk to $190/share Oh yeah Elliott also involved here. Co-op signed last print with no public campaign"

"Traditional event driven (Smid/Value tilt) having a little bit of a redemption arc Unfortunately for me (and most books that Ive spoken with) a lot of time is spent on pre-event names that arent broken and in need of a corporate action in order to make money Partially pivoting the strategy to source from names that have generally worked over past X years and then having massive unwinds has been frustrating but luckily () we definitely still own some struggling businesses that were bid to cover past week or so"

"How much cognition do you need for a restaurant OMS Or what about for financial reporting and filings Its known that hallucinations can and will occur so whats the point of building something so autonomous that can risk fucking something up And if youre employing someone to check the work what are the efficiency gains Didnt people say retail was dead in the dot com era because of e commerce"

"Is Walmart dead What about Dicks What about TJ Maxx The last one doesnt even have a good ecomm biz Is retail dead Do you shop at stores at all or do you sit in your man cave in front of a computer and never leave 🤣 Youre grossly underestimating adaptation and innovation"

"I dont disagree due to the customizability of vertical software but I also think the mission critical horizontal software will be just fine innovating for their specific customer base across businesses (think $WDAY) Ultimately most SaaS businesses wont get vibe coded away to your point building out an agentic solution that your product team knows the customer wants isnt that hard you can always just license the tech from an LLM and roll out the tool"
