"This is not an apples to apples comparison. The foam impact punched a 10" hole in the one of the reinforced panels on the leading edge of a wing. It was a high velocity impact (500mph maybe more). Then superheated air entered through that hole on reentry. Plasma melted the aluminum wing breaking it apart and that led to the explosion. There is a perception that the Fed is going to cut rates just that expectation undermines the dollar. Also US bond yields have softened reducing the yield premium for dollar assets. More dollar softening.
