"I agree with Dimitri. I've synced quite a few nodes this year. Spam has effectively raised the hardware requirements for syncing and running a Bitcoin node. Bad prospect for increasing the number of Bitcoin nodes in south America Asia and Africa. People in those regions will find it even more difficult to afford a Bitcoin node. Majority of nodes run in western countries which all have very similar political risks. Having nodes in countries with different political regimes is essential for real decentralization of Bitcoin"
