"One of my favorite aspects of the Covenant weapon design for the original Halo is that they are NOT GUNS. The Covenant were scavengers they would loot Forerunner installations and repurpose the technology to expand their empire. You take a Forerunner MRI component or portable arc welder or communication laser or whatever strap a handle and a trigger on it and hand it to a Grunt. Thats why they are always overheating or exploding or have terrible ergonomics"
