"@AndriFuture I like dividends but they dont make sense for me at the moment. I go back and forth on whether I want to live off dividends in retirement or use the X% rule + cash reserves. Ideally I stack so much $VTI that I can live off its dividend while still growing"

"Since the 1920s small caps have outperformed large caps and value stocks have outperformed growth. But since 2010 large has beaten small and growth has beaten value. Are we in a new era or will things revert I dont know. Nobody does for sure (no matter how confident they sound). But in a couple decades it will seem obvious looking back. Hindsight always looks easy"

"I will net positive and it won't even be close. I used to be skeptical of Robinhood because of PFOF but I think it is blown out or proportion. I buy and hold $VTI which has extremely tight bid-ask spreads and Robinhood's SEC filings show XX% of orders being executed at NBBO or better. A more realistic price increase for $VTI would be between X to X cents per share. If I transfer $100k get $1000 to invest in a bonus match then buy $VTI that's X shares. Even if I paid XX cents extra that's $XXXX. Netting $XXXXXX on the transfer. If I contribute $7k (max out the Roth IRA) and receive the 3%"

"@P_G_Investments Yeah. Just like other brokerage firms were forced to offer commission-free trades because of Robinhood I suspect they are also going to be forced to start offering matches or be left in the dust"

"@212nicks Got ya. I had an unfunded Hood account then they offered me the Gold card in September so I took it and started trying out the platform. I like it a lot. Robinhood actually executes fractional share purchases way better than Fidelity"

"@maceskridge To each their own but Id rather not store $1M+ with any single broker because Id rather spread it around and increase SIPC (though risk is low with all major brokers). And Robinhood assigns you a personal concierge when your account hits a certain size"

"Thats an awesome offer by Webull. Honestly I already have ties to Robinhood because I have the Gold card and invest my cash back there. Webull would add a third brokerage firm to my lineup (I still have other accounts that will remain with Fidelity) at a time when a third isnt really needed"

"@jaydubs83 @matt59606024 Fidelity and Vanguard dont. Robinhood and Schwab do but Robinhood uses it the most. PFOF is why Robinhoods trading is free; the rest of them are free because competitive pressure from Robinhood"

"@BurnsXxbaby For sure. Buying and sticking to only a fund like $VTI requires more mental strength than some realize. You have to block out a lot of FOMO for promises of big gains and you have to be able to ride out the drops without a hedge and not get scared by headlines"

"I will likely transfer my Roth IRA from Fidelity to Robinhood. The reason is simple: money. Robinhood will give me a X% match for transferred assets and a X% match on all contributions. I'm XX. Those matches will result in X% more money by the time I'm XX. I used to feel a sense of loyalty to Fidelity but that's nonsense. I invest to make as much money as possible. Period. I've been with Fidelity a long time and they're great. But they (and all other brokers) only offer low-cost index funds because pressure from Vanguard forced them to. They (and all other brokers) only offer commission-free"

"In my post about moving assets from Fidelity to Robinhood I said every brokerage firm other than Vanguard will keep costs as high as possible. Let me elaborate. All firms not named Vanguard serve two masters: owners and clients. The owners want profits and therefore higher costs; the clients want lower costs. The desires of the owners will always come first. In the case of Schwab and Robinhood (publicly traded companies) the owners are the shareholders. In the case of Fidelity (a privately owned company) the owners are a family. Vanguard is client-owned. The Vanguard Group is wholly owned by"
