"Equities grinding/rotating their way to new highs on a summer Friday with a $VIX futures curve in contango does not bode well for those hoping to get a VOL spike. $VVIX is asleep rates are calm and the mega caps are nearly all green. As I noted late yesterday $VX futures remain relatively firm which is something to keep an eye on. Whether they are sniffing out something somewhere or just being cautious is TBD. As VIX continues to slide this is creating more space between the VX curve and spot VIX. VIX could rise to close the gap or if nothing concerning materializes the futures will have to"
