"The two blue arrows are not correct. Self custody is not going away. Self custody at Marrelli is not different than self custody at Computershare. In both cases shares are held by the investor with no intermediary. The transfer agent documents the holdings. They do not hold those particular shares themselves"

"If you never enroll in the plan and never buy through the Computershare platform your shares are self custody. The problem for a company like Alphabet however is that they pay dividends and when an investor signs up for dividend reinvestment that removes the shares out of self custody. Going forward (August 1st) investors will buy from their brokers initiate a DRS transfer and all shares will be held self custody"

"@ingytrader @Google @Computershare @Malone_Wealth Just for clarity brokers dont buy/sell shares. They buy/sell entitlements. Computershare uses a broker as well (BofA securities) so when you buy through the Computershare platform you are still using a broker and they are still not DRS shares"
