"One thing about the US that wasnt the same in Canada and Im unsure about the UK is that we have a number of chains heavily subsidizing delivery. Whole Foods (now Amazon) and Walmart both have cheap baked-in delivery services to win business. In Walmarts case $12/mo and in Whole Foods case its free if you already have Prime and buy a minimum. In comparison getting Instacart to our AirBnB in Canada ran $XX ish dollars each delivery and Amazon just laughed at me last time I was in Scotland. All that to say - I wonder if theres some difference in perception about how extravagant Americans are"
