"Corrected Post: In 1971 the federal minimum wage was $1.60/hour or XXXX oz of gold per week (40 hours). At todays gold price ($2500/oz) thats $4550/week or $114/hour. Adjusted for inflation (CPI) $1.60/hour is $12$13/hour today compared to the current $7.25/hour minimum wage showing a real loss of purchasing power"
