Former North Carolina Democratic Governor Roy Cooper today announced his 2026 U.S. Senate bid to succeed retiring GOP Senator Thom Tillis. Kay Hagan, who lost re-election to Tillis in 2014, is the last Democrat to represent North Carolina in the U.S. Senate.
