Till now a new Layer X is launched every week. Few understand why we have so many but here are some notable ones and my opinion on them: X. The Ones Will Make It > BASE Coinbase main gateway into Web3. Many quality projects were born here. I’ve had both good and bad experiences on BASE but if one Layer X can make it this cycle, it’s should be them. > Abstract Pudgy Penguins launching their own chain was having many concerned But Luca has shown how consumer chains can work combining culture, community, and real projects across NFTs, streaming, and gaming. They kept NFTs alive during the darkest times. X. The Builders > Optimism The leader of the Superchain. Many Layer 2s are built using their tech. They’ve continued building through the bear market. Even if people don’t talk about them much anymore, they still the best place for builder to grow their projects. > Arbitrum They start the Layer X hype with their epic airdrop. Though the chain is a bit slow in trend but they’ve always shown support to their community, much respect to these builders. > MegaETH MegaETH make their banger with mint out X ETH NFT collection and many successful NFT project launch. They’ve built a strong ecosystem, but the big question here is when mainnet? > Katana A Layer X that helps users make money is a successful one to me. Katana brought back the fun of DeFi. Backed by Polygon, their samurai culture stands out as a unique community. Kudos to the team. X. Slowly then All at Once > Zora This could be the best comeback story of the year. After a disappointing airdrop, Zora seemed dead but with full support from BASE and the creator coin flywheel they’re start rising again. > dYdX Started as a perp DEX and move into a Layer X then focus again with DEX. One of the best airdrops ever. dYdX still quietly building their DeFI, I hope they make a comeback one day. > Unichain Uniswap made their own Layer 2, not many know about them yet but they’re slowly growing their TVL. Uniswap foundation is even richer than the Ethereum Foundation i won't be surprised if they make it one day. X. Used to Be Good > Mantle If you held $BIT hoping for the CEX token narrative their pivot to Layer X probably wreck you. Despite many campaigns and rebranding they’ve losed in the L2 race. Not many projects and community stay on their chain anymore. > Mentis Known as Vitalik’s mom’s chain they had their run in the last cycle and early 2023. But not many update later beside of that made user start leaving, they quietly disappeared now. > Starknet Once a very hyped layer X with strong DeFi support but they lost the community’s trust with a worst insider airdrop. They made some update efforts but haven’t gained traction. X. Fumble > Linea Built by the Metamask company and make a lot of hype when comeout. But multiple failed campaigns, NFT and forever airdrop delays pushed the community away. NGMI > Scroll They actively farming fees of their community and have the worst airdrop made the community feel betrayed. Momentum is gone and users have moved on, we barely seen them on CT again. > zkSync Their tech was good enough even Vitalik said Zk is the endgame but they lost credibility after an insider heavy airdrop Move to ZK Nation and start to abandon the support to their ecosystem made both builders and users left. > Blast Blast start as good project that made farmers lots of money. But post-TGE decisions ruined their chain. I heard they still have a good stablecoin farm and a mobile app on the way but it might be too late for a comeback of them. We’re all cheering for ETH now but there was a time when people said Layer X would replace the mainnet and ETH was nothing without them.
Till now a new Layer X is launched every week. Few understand why we have so many but here are some notable ones and my opinion on them:
X. The Ones Will Make It
BASE
Coinbase main gateway into Web3. Many quality projects were born here.
I’ve had both good and bad experiences on BASE but if one Layer X can make it this cycle, it’s should be them.

MegaETH
MegaETH make their banger with mint out X ETH NFT collection and many successful NFT project launch.
They’ve built a strong ecosystem, but the big question here is when mainnet?
Katana
A Layer X that helps users make money is a successful one to me.
Katana brought back the fun of DeFi. Backed by Polygon, their samurai culture stands out as a unique community. Kudos to the team.

This could be the best comeback story of the year.

dYdX

dYdX still quietly building their DeFI, I hope they make a comeback one day.

Uniswap foundation is even richer than the Ethereum Foundation i won't be surprised if they make it one day.
