Last week I tutored a friend of mine looking to get into crypto.

At some point we talked about the fact that everyone that has been in here early must have made a huge amount of profits right?

Bitcoin at $1-2k in early 2017
Ethereum at $XXX in early 2017

Surprisingly I told her that's not the case at all.

"How? Prices have literally exploded since then"

At a first glance it looks easy. And yet it's a lot harder than you think.

I told her that the problem is the following:

The average Joe buys close to the cycle peak. Why? Because media attention reaches all time high at that point.

So Joe buys Bitcoin at $15k.

"That's still dirt cheap right!?"

Well, Joe sees price falling first.

Sure, it went from 15k to 20k but then to 10k and eventually even to 3k.

At $XXXXX Joe sold because he was told and convinced that Bitcoin would reach even $XXXXX and bottom there.

It never did. Even Bitcoin going back up to $10k and above didn't convince him yet because that was a bull trap and it'll come back down again.

Prices surge above $20k by now and Joe starts to realize he might have been wrong.

It goes so fast that mere weeks later it's already between 30-40k and he rebuys.

Price peaks at 69k but Joe is in here for the big profits. Everyone says easy 100k this "supercycle".

Eventually LUNA happens, FTX happens and talks about the worst macro conditions we ever had arise.

He sells again at around $20-30k and eventually Bitcoin starts the up-only cycle at the local bottom from $XXXXXX.

This couldn't happen yet because macro was looking terrible...

To make this story short:

You would not believe how many people fit this scenario. Literally almost everyone you know.

"How could anyone not have made it big when they started here in 2017 and witnessed all these low prices?"

Well, it's not that you've been here early that all those people made it. Most actually didn't.

(I know a lot of people that started with me on 2017. Yet I know very few that have made it big with me)

And that's just Bitcoin talking. The exact same story happened with alts as well. Just on an even quicker scale.

(they rise and fall just like Bitcoin did but they did it in terms of months and not years)

So while tutoring her I told her it's all not as easy as you think.

"Despite the fact they had to just buy and hold the big boys"

But it's not just buy and holding I told her. Psychology plays a lot of tricks on you.

Look at one of the most famous larps today: Jeremie Davinci.

You know, that guy that went viral years later because he told everyone to buy Bitcoin at $X back in the day.

He did say that indeed. That part is true. But he never held. He never played it well despite being extremely early.

Today he keeps riding on that fame and shills the biggest crap memes every day.

He's not rich and he didn't make it big at all.

Timing is important in every cycle that's about to come but also how you play it.

I ended with "think about that before you start"

"So what now my friend asked"

Well, now the XX other lessons I need to teach you before we begin starts...
