Is this actually true though? A person earning minimum wage could contribute $1.5K per year (10% of salary) into an account that earns as much as the stock market (just a basic index fund) and they'd retire with $1M, more than enough to retire with, especially at their standard of living. Very few people are making federal minimum wage, so it's likely even higher.

Any excess wages unspent could go back into the collective pool.
