US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has urged the Thai government to calm the situation and agree to a ceasefire with Cambodia over their border dispute.

He said the US is ready to help arrange talks to maintain peace between the two countries.

This came as Acting Prime Minister Phumtham and Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet are scheduled to meet in Malaysia tomorrow, following an invitation from Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, the current ASEAN Chair.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump tried to stop the fighting by warning that trade talks would be paused if the violence continued, but clashes have continued for the fourth day today.
