I’m absolutely delighted by this book and am so glad you posted about it. I checked it out from the library on audio within minutes of reading your post and have been thoroughly enjoying it. I knew bits and pieces of what she says and am familiar with the commonly history. Her research is so well founded by public records I just want to post her words in all these arguments men provide. They are dumb and don’t even know what they are missing. Gregory shows women were integral as societies builder and were respected and appreciated until the church and invaders forced change. Men benefited from women’s contributions and were themselves more prosperous and happy. Women were an important part of building the economy. The establishment had to impose heavy restrictions on women to be able to oppress everyone. They use the oppression of women as a way to oppress men and turn everyone into cheap labor slaves. Like what is happening now. Men need to cast their anger upward not at women. By hating women they enable their own oppression.
