@EricLDaugh Mamdani shouldn't be thought of as a typical 3rd worlder. He is a princeling on both sides of his family. His father is of a caste that has dominated trading in East Africa for centuries. It was briefly (ceremonially?) ejected from Uganda for a decade, then quietly allowed back.
