On July 12, 2025, Texas told a court to ignore the very DOJ concerns it used to justify this redistricting. This isn't about the law; it's a brazen power grab ordered by the White House to manufacture X GOP seats for the 2026 midterms.

As Pelosi said on July 24, this is a "shameless" move "at the orders of Donald Trump." The Legal Defense Fund warns it weakens representation for voters of color, while Holder calls it an "egregious gerrymander" that "affects all Americans." The pretext of legality has completely collapsed.
