In a social media post, Trump said he had just spoken with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet about stopping the war with Thailand. He added that he was about to call Acting Prime Minister Phumtham Wechayachai to likewise request a ceasefire and an end to the war, which he described as “currently raging.” Trump noted that the United States is, by coincidence, in trade talks with both countries but said he does not want to make any deal with either of them while they are fighting—“and I have told them so,” he wrote. He said the call with Cambodia had ended but that he expects to call back based on what Thailand has to say. The call with Thailand, he added, was being made momentarily. “I am trying to simplify a complex situation,” Trump said, expressing concern that many people were being killed in the war.
