Personally, however, I don't expect Ghislaine Maxwell to actually contribute significantly to the investigation. She will likely insist that she played only a minor role in the Epstein system and that she had already largely distanced herself from Jeffrey Epstein in the early 2000s. That, at least, corresponds to the narrative she is having spread through her brother. The most likely outcome will, therefore, be a statement: • that confirms Donald Trump's claim that he committed no crimes in connection with Epstein and that he had already clearly distanced himself from him in the late 1990s. • that will only lead to a few scapegoats, almost all of whom presumably come from the camp of Trump opponents. • that downplays the criminal Epstein system and falsely portrays Jeffrey Epstein as a kind of lone perpetrator. So to speak, the old fairy tale of the "lone gunman" that is so popular with the secret services.
