Once in a while, I ask myself: Were we better off XX years ago than we are today? The answer is a resounding NO. 

Zoom out and it's easy to measure by the amount of homeless on the streets, declining homeownership of younger generations, shopping carts with less, food packages getting smaller at the same price or even higher, etc.
