Why do official L2→L1 bridges take X days to move funds?

Meanwhile, third-party bridges (Relay, LayerZero and the rest) do it in seconds. What gives?

Now official bridges play it EXTRA safe they wait out the full fraud-proof window to make absolutely sure there's no funny business.

It's a no brainer I'd pick a third party bridge to move my assets in seconds.
These guys use clever workarounds:
~ Pre-funded liquidity pools
~ Off-chain validator networks
~ Optimistic execution with collateral backing
Basically, they're just fronting you the money while the official transfer happens in the background.

But here's the catch
We often sacrifice security and decentralization for speed as these guys rely on external oracles and relayers that can be compromised or collude.

This Still Sucks in 2025, i mean we've got
~ ZK proofs that verify in minutes
~ Dozens of secure fast bridges
~ $ETH staking withdrawals faster than some L2s
Yet we're still waiting a week?

So why do we have to pick between slow but secure and fast but risky bridges?

@EspressoSys decides to fix this with its Hotshot Consensus, common it's big XX.

This means, in Espresso integrated L2→L1 communication, there's
~ Security of official bridges
~ Speed of third-party bridges

Finally, something that doesn't make you choose between 'secure' and 'I want it NOW'

This already excites me as a contributor to ESPRESSO as a caffeinated creator. A network that offers chains fast confirmations, and can also be used for low-cost data availability, and decentralized sequencing.
