The problem is we are in no way prepared for this AND today it's China, not the US that is the real global manufacturing superpower.

We also already have WWII levels of debt without even being directly in a great power war with the cost of interest on the debt exceeding defense spending & a terrible defense, especially naval, industrial base.

America needs to focus & prioritize.  China is the main threat & that is where our attention must reside.

The tradeoffs are real & large between focusing on Russia & Ukraine vs China & Taiwan.

I wrote about this over a decade ago, well before the current invasion of Ukraine.
