“Ukraine wants to fight” is not a serious argument. People want all kinds of things under duress. What matters is who benefits from their sacrifice. And it’s not Ukrainians.

There’s a word for a war funded, armed, and prolonged by outside powers for their own aims: proxy. You just defined it and didn’t notice.
