Dr Alfred B Xuma's first wife, Amanda Mason from Liberia, attended Wilberforce University and was President of the  University's YWCA. Amanda Mason died in Johannesburg while giving birth to their 2nd child (1934). She is seated in the centre on the front row 3rd from the right.
